Preparation for your visit
Gather all medical documents and radiology scans pertaining to your current problem and have them with you when you come to your appointment.
- Referral letter from your GP or specialist
- Radiology & pathology reports
- Ultrasound scans
- CT, MRI and nuclear medicine scans
- Medicare, pension and/or private health insurance cards (if applicable)
- A list of your current medications including dosage and frequency
It’s a good idea to compile a list of questions that you wish to ask Dr Yeung.
Please ensure the Patient Registration Form has been completed prior to your appointment.
What to expect
During your initial consultation, a complete history and examination directed at the relevant endocrine organ will be undertaken, and an ultrasound examination of the thyroid and/or parathyroid gland will be performed. This is a painless scan that allows a radiological examination of the thyroid and/or parathyroid glands.
Many patients will have had an ultrasound performed prior to seeing Dr Yeung. She may still perform her own ultrasound scan at the time of the initial consultation as abnormalities may be detected that are not always appreciated by the person performing the original scan. The thyroid gland also may have changed from the original scan by the time you see Dr Yeung.
At the end of the consultation, further investigations will likely be ordered, and a treatment plan will be made. Most patients will have had blood tests performed before seeing Dr Yeung. These are often basic thyroid tests and she may like to add more specific tests related to the thyroid/parathyroid.
You are most welcome to bring a family member or friend to the consultation if desired. Dr Yeung encourages this as an additional person will often ask questions that you may not think of or remember certain aspects of the consultation later on that you may not.
